Billings Dance Academy
Our Philosophy:

Growing Though Dance. Here at Billings Dance Academy we work to give each student a good foundation in dance regardless if they decide to pursue dance as a career, a college degree or just for fun. We believe dance to be a great experience for all, it not only improves coordination and physical strength, but also strengthens discipline and self- confidence which will carry over into all areas of life. We provide dancers with the experience and tools to love and appreciate the art of dance by teaching the physical skills, technique and expressive nature of dance. Classes are limited in size and created by ability to provide the best possible experience for each dancer and the curriculum is designed to carry each student forward in every class. Choreography and costumes are kept modest and age appropriate.  Our number one goal is the quality of dance education we provide for each and every dancer. We invite you and your dancer to be a part of this experience!

Dance: Working on a continuum

Balance, Rhythm, Flexibility, Strength and Musicality carry dancers into understanding the concentration necessary to dance... Creativity, Inspiration and Encouragement are essential to help them grow INTO A DANCER.

Classes

Pre Ballet/Tap Combo

Dancers begin to learn the basics of Ballet and Tap while developing social, motor and memory skills. Creativity is a very big part of the class and these little dancers will learn and grow each week. Dance attire: black leotard, pink ballet tights, pink ballet slippers, black tap shoes, pink or lavender chiffon skirt is optional. All dance attire items are available through the studio and specific colors and styles are needed at performance time.

Ballet/Tap Combo

Continuing to develop the motor skills for Ballet and Tap, these classes introduce correct body placement, acquiring strength and flexibility, developing poise and self confidence in the structure and creativity of dance. Ballet and Tap skills are developed by learning more vocabulary, combinations and choreography to carry them into the next class. Creativity is still encouraged! Dance attire: black leotard, pink ballet tights, pink ballet slippers, black tap shoes, pink or black chiffon ballet skirt is optional. All dance attire is available through the studio and specific colors and styles are needed at performance time.

Ballet

Ballet is the basis of all dance forms; developing strength, balance, style and the physical and mental discipline required for the proper executions of dance movements.  A progression in learning dance vocabulary, working on self-discipline, body placement and developing poise. Self confidence, creativity, combinations and choreography carry dancers forward through each class. Dance attire: black leotard, pink ballet tights, pink ballet slippers. No skirts or shorts. All dance attire is available through the studio and specific colors and styles are needed at performance time.

Tap

Tap is clearly defined, emphasizing the development of musicality, a sense of style, rhythm and fun. From the brain to the feet! Dance attire: same as ballet, skirts or shorts are acceptable.  Black tap shoes.  All dance attire is available through the studio and specific colors and styles are needed at performance time.

Jazz

Jazz emphasizes total body conditioning and awareness working on strength, flexibility, isolation, leaps, turns, creativity, jazz vocabulary, movement, combinations and choreography that is age appropriate. Dancers taking Jazz should consider taking a Ballet Class to help with technique. Dance attire: black leotard, black convertible jazz tights, black jazz shorts are optional. All dance attire is available though the studio and specific colors and styles are needed at performance time.

Level Classes

Level classes are by instructor placement only and are created by ability for dancers that posses particular skill levels and a dedication to dance.
